Covid Policy and Procedures for
K5 thru 12th Grade Students

General Information

  • Face masks are strongly recommended for all students and staff. 

Someone Tests Positive for COVID-19

(1) - Person must quarantine for 5 days from the day they first tested positive and must provide school office with a negative COVID test before returning to campus.

or

 

(2) - Person must quarantine for 14 days from the day they first tested positive. A negative COVID test is not required to return to campus if returning on the 15th day after testing positive.

 

and

 

  • Siblings attending Cornerstone must also quarantine since they will have been in close contact with someone that tested positive. Siblings must provide a negative test upon returning to school. (See more info below)

Person Came in Close Contact with Someone that Tested Positive for Covid-19 (IN HOUSEHOLD)

  • For an exposure to someone with COVID who resides in the same home they must quarantine for 10 days from the day that the person in the household tested positive and must provide the school office with a negative COVID test before returning to campus. (The negative COVID test must be completed within 3 days from returning to school).

 

  • Person must provide school office with a negative COVID test before returning to campus.

 

  • Person may not quarantine for 14 days in lieu of getting tested. A negative test must be provided under all circumstances before returning, when close contact is with someone in household.

 

  • Person with prior COVID-19 infection (within the past 90 days) does not have to quarantine if they come in close contact with someone who tests positive.

 

  • Person who is fully vaccinated does not have to quarantine if they come in close contact with someone who tests positive.

 

 

Person Came in Close Contact with Someone that Tested Positive for Covid-19 (NOT IN HOUSEHOLD)

  • Those who are exposed to someone with COVID-19 who does not live in the same home may choose to quarantine for 5 days from the day of exposure and then provide a negative COVID-19 test to return to campus on Day 6. (The negative COVID test must be completed no more than 2 days before returning to school).

 

  • Person may not quarantine for 14 days in lieu of getting tested. A negative test must be provided under all circumstances before returning, when close contact has been made with someone who has tested positive.

 

  • Person with prior COVID-19 infection (within the past 90 days) does not have to quarantine if they come in close contact with someone who tests positive.

 

  • Person who is fully vaccinated does not have to quarantine if they come in close contact with someone who tests positive.

Classroom Quarantine Rules

For all the situations below, the parent(s) of all students in the classroom are notified via email letting them know that their child may have come in close contact with a positive individual.

 

1 Person Test Positive in Classroom - Students are not required to be tested or quarantine and may return to school the following day. However, parents should monitor their child closely for any symptoms and notify the school office immediately if any symptoms arise.

 

2 to 3 People Test Positive in Classroom - Students must complete one of the following options:

 

(Option 1) - Test to Stay Option :: Student may receive two negative COVID-19 tests. One negative test before he/she is able to return to school on Day 1 and another negative test on Day 3, from the date of the potential exposure. Student may take a COVID-19 test, free of charge, at Cornerstone School (if available). If their parent would like for their child to be tested for COVID-19, they must complete a COVID-19 Testing Consent Form online at (consent.csjax.org).

 

OR

 

(Option 2) - Student may quarantine and stay home and not go to school for 5 days from the day of potential exposure and then provide a negative COVID-19 test to return to campus on Day 6. (The negative COVID-19 test must be completed no more than 2 days before returning to school).

 

4 or More People Test Positive in Classroom - All students in the classroom are quarantined for 5 days from the date of possible exposure and then must provide a negative COVID-19 test to return to campus on Day 6. All students in the effected classroom will take classes online during this period. (The negative COVID-19 test must be completed no more than 2 days before returning to school).

 

Sick Staff or Student on Campus with Specific Symptoms

Anyone that exhibits any of the following symptoms must be symptom free for at least 24 hours before returning to school.

 

  1. Fever above 100.4 F

  2. Shortness of Breath or Difficulty Breathing

  3. Loss of Taste or Smell

  4. Congestion or Runny Nose

  5. Diarrhea

  6. Nausea or Vomiting

  7. Persistent Cough

Covid-19 Policy and Procedures for
Pre-K and VPK Students

The policy and procedures listed above are followed for our Pre-K and VPK Students as well, with the exception of the following:

 

 

For any positive cases involving a student or staff member in PreSchool or VPK that test positive and was recently in attendance at school: The Department of Children and Families and the Department of Health are notified of the case.
